teach the world

I woke to rise this morning

With a song inside my head

The tune was unfamiliar

As i yawned and scratched my head,

The notes sat in a melody

The chorus rose and fell

The bars and beats were tight and neat

The strings began to swell

I hummed and in my humming

Felt a resonance arise

A song of hope to help us cope

A shine to light our eyes,

A song of peace to help release

The power of our voice

A harmony to set us free

And let the world rejoice

A song to silence enmity

A balm to balance hate

An anthem of serenity

to serenade the fates

A lullaby of lovers rock

A jingle of delight

A madrigal to madness banned

And a chant to set us right.

I’d like to teach the world to sing

A song as such as this

And so I’ll keep on humming

Till a silence brings us bliss.
