The first of March sees their thirst enlarge
as an epic fury fills our screens
The roaring lion of poisonous Zion
approaches a zenith of toxic dreams.
Buds, bidden by winters end
engorge their beginnings in form.
Bombs, bidden by nobody’s friend
explode in eruptions of lawless cant.
Daffodils offering golden grace,
Terror enacted on C.N.N.
Whispering catkins all over the place
Nature revealing the horrors of men.
Ponds frothing amphibious spawn
Ramsons singing the song of spring
Warplanes rumbling overhead
Fear the noise and the death it brings.
Emergent life in the hedges of home
Chaos spilt in the military zone
March the first
Sees us fear the worst
And prepare for the comings
Of horrors unknown.
