The tragic disappearance of decorum has been noted

And while much of it was bullshit there are things that we have lost

Manners are important, as is grace and common decency

Respect has been the victim and has come at quite a cost.

We risk becoming blase as the daily toxic cabaret

Delivers us examples of behaviours full of sin

In normalising rhetoric and double spoken narrative

We find ourselves beholden to a soup of thickened spin

Belief was once available to anchor us in certainty

With honesty detectable we knew the line wasd thin

And now within our politic the emptiness and hollowness

Of meaning and of messaging, the end will soon begin
